Got Corona? Updates on What to Do.

Tufts and Cornell University trained physician, Dr. Michael Greger, continues to provide us with updates on Cornona Virus. His recent video, “What To Do If you Come Down With Covid-19 Corona Virus” offers the following advice:

  • Rest, stay hydrated, monitor your symptoms. Look for serious problems such as difficulty breathing or persistent pain/pressure in your chest. If there is no emergency-call your doctor, but either way, let 911 and all health care professionals know aobut the virus.
  • Isolate as much as possible. Avoid contact with people and pets. If possible, stay in a “sick room” and use a separate bathroom.
  • If you cannot isolate and are in the same room, wear a mask as an exhaled breath can spread the virus.
  • For those who are sick and for those who can’t help being exposed-wear a surgical mask if you can.
  • Sneeze and cough into a tissue then throw it into a lined trashcan. Wash/Sanitize hands immediately.
  • Don’t share any personal items-utensils, towels, bedding.
  • Wash hands OFTEN AND DON’T TOUCH YOUR EYES, NOSE AND MOUTH-especially when removing your mask.
  • Person who is sick: Routinely disinfect high touch areas-phones, doorknobs, toilets, bathroom. All Others: Disinfect high touch spaces in the rest of the dwelling.
  • Open windows in the “sick room” for ventilation.
  • Run the exhaust fan in the bathroom used by the sick person.
  • For those cleaning-wear masks, gloves, and open all windows while mopping and cleaning.
  • Wash all linens.
  • Wash clothes worn while cleaning and don’t let dirty clothes etc. touch your body. Do not shake items before washing.
  • Use a dry air humidifier
  • Once your symptoms get better, you are fever free and off fever reducing meds for 3 full days and it has been at least 1 full week since symptoms started, the CDC says home isolation can be relaxed. WHO(World Health Organization), however, recommends quarantining for a full 14 days for those with symptoms or anyone living with someone with symptoms.

WASH YOUR HANDS FREQUENTLY!
