Do You Have Bad Breath?

Everyone everywhere at some point in time wonders…Does my breath smell? Dr. Mark Brhenne, DDS provides us with the information we need to help with this problem. To see if you breath smells, he suggests licking the inside of your wrist and taking a deep sniff. If it smells bad, your breath probably does too. Is your tongue yellow or white? If so, yes, you probably do have bad breath. There are many causes: failing to brush your teeth at least twice daily and not flossing everyday. Gum disease, malnutrition, smoking and using mouthwash also contribute to smelly breath. Flossing twice a day helps remove the plaque and bacteria which causes bad breath. Use a tongue scraper to get the gunk off. Dr. Brhenne advises against using mouthwash. Mouthwash dries your mouth. We need a lot of saliva to keep the bacteria and plaque under control and balanced within our mouths. Too much bad bacteria and not enough good bacteria contributes to stinky breath. That minty clean taste masks these problems and can make our breath worse. Ditch it and simply swish with water after you floss and brush your teeth.
